The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (“TDC”) established an office in Amsterdam, having recognized the strategic trading importance of the Netherlands. Initially the focus was more on Hong Kong trade with the Benelux countries, however, the office currently has broadened its activities. Product trade still accounts for the majority of TDC’s activities, but transportation and service industries are also occupying more of the organization’s attention. Their work relates to helping Dutch importers source effectively from Hong Kong and China as well as concentrating on Dutch exports. A considerable number of enquiries also refer to the Netherlands’ service industries and logistics. In addition, the office provides information to Hong Kong companies on trading and incentive opportunities in the Netherlands as well as practical advice on trading procedures. TDC in Hong Kong is the statutory organization for promoting Hong Kong's external trade in goods and services. It also promotes Hong Kong's advantages as a global platform and partner for international business. A network of more than 40 offices around the world has been established since 1966.
