Ministry of Economic Affairs in Action for Innovation

Innovation has to become the most important pillar under future economic growth. More innovation requires breaking with past traditions. We should aim for a knowledge environment where guts and free enterprise are appreciated. This is what Minister of Economic Affairs Mr. Brinkhorst and Minister for Foreign Trade Mrs. Van Gennip write in the Innovation Letter that has been sent to the Second Chamber this week. The letter, entitled 'In Action for Innovation', indicates which steps the cabinet wants to make to help strengthen the innovation power of Dutch business.

The Innovation Letter announces measures in three different areas:

  • More innovating companies - Dutch companies have to produce more new products and offer more new services.
  • Better innovation climate - The Netherlands has to become an attractive country for innovation activities.
  • More chances, better choices - Dutch research institutes should carry out more targeted and better research in cooperation with business.
