Ministry of Justice speeds up procedure for Dutch legal entity 'BV' or 'NV'

All public notaries in the Netherlands can now electronically apply for a statement of 'no-objection' at the ministry of Justice. Such a statement is necessary when founding a Dutch legal entity 'BV' or 'NV' (Co. Ltd. or Corporation). The electronic application reduces the average waiting time from several weeks to 48 hours. This new system was developed together by the 'notary association' and the ministry of Justice. The new system is fast and safe. In case no further investigation is necessary, the ministry will inform the notary within 48 hours that the statement is issued and an original will be sent by mail. This new system, with faster response, will also benefit Chinese businesses that want to establish a Dutch legal entity.

Hong Kong and the Netherlands sign Technology MOU

On April 9, Hong Kong and the Netherlands signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on co-operation in information technology, information services and telecommunications. The MOU was signed by Mr Mark Frequin, Director-General of Telecommunications and Post, representing the Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management of the Netherlands, and Mr Alan Siu, Deputy Secretary for Information Technology and Broadcasting, representing the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

The MOU envisages a wide range of co-operative activities between the two places, ranging from commercial and industrial exchanges to investment and technology partnerships, and from exchange of information on policy and regulatory framework to promoting business collaboration, said Mr Siu and added: "Through this co-operative framework, both Hong Kong and the Netherlands can build on each other's strength to enhance the development of IT and telecommunications in both places, and create new business opportunities for each other's industry."
